Olaulim village, where our homestay is located, is just 11 kms from
Panjim, the capital of Goa and 8kms from Mapusa, famous for its Friday
Market. Dabolim Airport is 42 kms away while Thivim and Karmali Railway
stations are equal distance of 20 km. We can arrange a pick-up to
our place according to your travel plans.
While at our homestay, you can experience the other side of Goa, being
away from the bustle and hustle of the coastal touristic belt, but
at the same time, we are not too far from the beaches, just a half
an hour drive and you reach the famous Baga and Calangute beaches.
Olaulim , which is a part of Pomburpa village, is surrounded by fields,
rivers, and tiny hillocks.
Though Olaulim Backyards looks remote in its location, yet it is just half hour
drive from Panjim. The drive is painteresque with winding roads past
little hamlets, Mandovi river , with a first right past Casa Britona,
past Salvador de Mundo church, Exoshim and Pomburpa famous for its
natural fresh water springs and the famous Salim Ali bird sanctuary
in the village of Chorao opposite the river. The villages ahead are
Aldona which has the famous church of St Thomas as well as the first
Goan suspension bridge.
The beaches of Baga , Calangute, Candolim, Anjuna, Vagator are about
half hours drive . Mapusa the main market town of Goa is about seven
km and Bicholim town with its earthen pottery is about nine km from
Olaulim Backyards.
Panjim is a quaint city with well planned gardens and roads. This
old areas or the Latin Quarter called FONTINHAS is definitely worth
a walk with restaurants like Venit /Viva Panjim/ Ernestos a heaven
for Goan and other Mediterranean and Portuguese dishes
The FLE MARKET in Anjuna is held weekly on Wednesday and the first
market starts sometime in November up to April. There are also the
Arpora Night Markets which are in interesting blend of Music, Dance,
Shopping Food and Cocktails. Musicians from different parts of the
world perform free for the usual colorful gathering of people from
all over the world. You need to bargain with most of the sellers though.
